I’m angry at the New York lawmakers who passed a bill yesterday allowing abortion to be legal “anytime” up to birth.
Now, if a baby girl manages to live through an attempt on her life (if she miraculously survives a lethal injection in her mother’s womb) then she can be left to die if she is deemed unwanted or a risk.
The governor of the state of NY celebrated his unprecedented “victory for women” by ordering the One World Trade Center to be lit up pink to “shine a bright light forward for the rest of the nation to follow…”
The New York lawmakers who voted for this bill, and then celebrated when it passed, are bad shepherds for the people of New York. One day they will stand before the Good Shepherd who knows each one of his own by name – born or unborn – and pray for mercy.
The people of God choose to follow a Good Shepherd who is pro-life and pro-choice. And by pro-choice, I mean that He never forces himself upon his own. God never muscles his will upon the hearts, minds, or bodies of those he makes in his own image. In his mercy, God lets his own accept or reject his protective shepherding.
Out of great respect for humanity, the Creator has given each of his sons and daughters the profound dignity of choice. Will I choose to accept the authority and will of the Good Shepherd or will I not? This is a daily decision and not a one-time event. Will I listen for his voice and closely follow him even when I’m desperate or afraid? Or will I choose a way that seems best to me? Acceptable to me? More suitable for me?
The people of God are those who choose to closely follow the Good Shepherd wherever and whenever He deems it right for us to go. This certainly means that we will go with him through the valleys and shadows of this sorrowful world. But we will follow closely, trusting the way He guards and tends his flock, believing that He would rather die himself than lose one of his own.
The people of God follow the Lamb of God who was also unjustly condemned, pierced, torn apart, and left to die. He descended into the hopeless evil of hell. Why? To kick in the teeth and crush the head of dread and death forever. This was a true victory for all mankind.
Will I choose to follow him closely today? Will I choose his will and wisdom above mine? The people of God are always free to choose. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
May our daily decision to follow the Good Shepherd “shine a bright light forward for the rest of the nation to follow…”
Shalom to you and yours today.
Kim
Very well said, Kim. This is heart-wrenching!
As a New Yorker, I am even more sickened. We are displaying total depravity with certain judgment to follow. Thank you for expounding upon this – this shame must be exposed.
Thank you for this, very well worded and appreciated. What has been done in NY is disgusting at best. Praying for this nation. Amanda

Dear Kim,❤️
Thank you for your response to the tragedy that happened in the country we call ours.
Last night I thought of you as I lay awake. Don and I spent time talking this through as soon as we heard the horrible news.
When I was a young wife I spent a great amount of time on my knees asking for a pregnancy which never came, so it is unimaginable to me that anyone would conceive of such a thing amid thunderous applause from the governing body.
Does The Lord want me to protest or sign petitions? I have already done that. I have marched with signs in Dallas several years ago.
What He tells me is clear. Don and I have committed to a day of fasting and prayer one day a week, according to 2 Chronicles 7:14.
“If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. “
What is happening is wicked indeed. J. I. Packer says it this way. “Now everywhere the Christian observes a pattern of degeneration. Each generation grows a fresh crop of ungodliness. In this decline we are to recognize a process of judicial hardening by God, The the withdrawal of restraints. Being given over to sin is itself a judgement on sin. As we move on in time, the moral, spiritual, and economic decline of our country will be slowed or accelerated. We, the people will decide. “
As Christians , we grieve for who we have become. But grief is not enough. We must seek The Lord while He May be found and pray for His mercy on an evil generation.
Our land is sick. “The wages of sin is death”. Romans 6:23
